Description

Essex Westford School District (EWSD) has an opportunity for a full-time Learning Specialist/ Special Educator at Essex Elementary School. This position collaborates with educators, parents, and students to implement interventions for special education, 504, and EST students, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws. They focus on literacy, math, and behavior support, developing and evaluating Individual Education Programs (IEP) and behavior plans with assistance from district-wide specialists and Co-Directors of Student Support Services.

  

EWSD is committed to considering out-of-state candidates who are eligible to hold a Vermont educator license but do not yet hold a license in this state.

Candidates with the following additional qualifications are encouraged to apply:

  • Hold, or be eligible to hold, a valid VT Educator license with a Special Educator endorsement (Level II preferred)
  • Master’s degree or Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field, with 3 to 4 years of relevant experience.
  • A deep commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education.
  • Strong language skills for interpreting educational documents, and regulations, and communicating effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Dedication to providing a safe and respectful learning environment for all students with an ability to understand and teach various learning styles.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of major theories and research-based principles and processes
  • Expertise in utilizing and integrating current technology to support instruction.
  • Understanding of human development and its implications for learning, including identifying and supporting individuals with special needs.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement in the areas of knowledge and professional practice.
